What a wedding DJ costs in the Bay Area
There is no flat rate for a Bay Area wedding DJ, and anyone quoting one before hearing about your night is guessing. What a quote depends on is the number of hours past the standard four, how far the travel is, whether there is a second space to cover, the size of the room and the sound it needs, and lighting when it is rented in.

What moves the quote
Hours beyond four. Four hours of reception coverage is the base. Extra hours are quoted by the hour. A reception that runs from a 5 p.m. entrance to a midnight last dance is seven hours, and that is a different quote from four.
Travel. The core area is the Bay Area. Anywhere in Northern California works for the right event, with a travel fee past the core area. A San Jose reception carries none; a Healdsburg or Tahoe one does.
A second space. Cocktail hour in the reception room runs on the same system. Cocktail hour on a terrace on the other side of the building needs its own speakers, and sometimes its own timing. Ceremony sound is not offered, so it is never in the quote.
The room. A ballroom for two hundred needs more sound than a restaurant back room for sixty. The system is scaled to the room and the quote follows it.
Lighting. Not owned. Dance floor lighting and uplighting are rented in on request and quoted separately, so a quote without lighting is a complete quote, not one waiting for an add-on.

What is not included
Ceremony sound, which I do not offer. Lighting, which is rented in and quoted separately. Travel past the core area.

A signed agreement and a deposit. Until both are in, the date is open.
What to send for a quote
The date, or "not set yet". The venue, or the city if the venue is not chosen. A rough headcount. The hours if you already know them, whether there is a second space, and whether you want lighting. Everything else can come in the reply.
